Turbo-charged implies the vehicle has a turbo-charger (or at least one turbo-charger anyway).

A Twin-turbo has 2 turbo-chargers installed.

Turbocharged could refer to a car that has twin-turbos...But Twin-turbocharged would refer only to a car with two turbos. Sometimes more is not better, some single turbo cars may perform better that twin-turbo ones...it is all in the matching of the turbo to the engine size.

No not necessary, simply open the hood and count the turbochargers. They are piped to the exit of the exhaust manifold on a straight four or six cylinder motor. On a V6 or V8 engine you'll find them near the exhaust manifold on one or the other side of the engine. If an engine is truly a double turbo setup you will see one on each side of a V8 or a V6. Usually the dual turbos come in complete kits from people like Gail Banks or Lingenfelder. They install Them also. If your not sure what they look like they're cylindrical and the exhaust gasses turn one set of blades inside of the housing. There is a sealed wall in the center and the opposite side of the housing there is another set of blades that spin drawing atmospheric pressure in and the blades pressurize the incoming air to the intake manifold if it's a diesel. I have seen pulling tractors with mammoth 6 cyl. engines with as many as 4 huge turbos on one engine --- a plumbing nightmare!

Turbocharging is a exhaust driven supercharger in that exhaust heat and energy is used to drive a compressor wheel that makes additional air under pressure available for the engine to use in combustion.Twin turbo is two turbos attached to the same motor, in fact there have been quad and more turbo motors built

Same thing only with 2 turbos. Usually done on V6 or V8 engines.
