i didnt like this guy who knows me by my name. so i punched him in the face and knocked him out. people said he is going to press charges because he is missing front teeth... am i going to jail?

1st of all: if ur under 18, probably not. Juveniel hall, maybe.
2nd of all: if ur over 18, is this your 1st offense. Because if it is, probably not.
You will get sued for medical bills, and possible pain and suffering.
3rd of all: Next time you punch someone in the face, make sure the following:
he doesnt know your name.
he doesnt see it coming
and you finish the job so he cant sue u after.

You might go till you can post bail, or you go in front of a judge. The least offense you could be charged with is a misdemeanor. If this is your first offense, your more than likely going to do probation. If not the judge might not be that easy on you. But what do you expect if you knock some teeth out. Start acting like you are sorry, that's the best thing you could do, or at least try to be. Good luck to you.

Depending on the District Atty, the circumstances of the fight, and the state you are in, you may be facing felony assault charges in the most serious case. If they don't feel it is a serious case, youi may still be facing misdemeanor disturning the peace charges. If it's your 1st offense, you may be able to get probation and anger management training. If it isn't your first offense...time to talk to an attorney.

Did you both fight, they could say it mutual combat and you wont go to jail, they can press charges up to one year after the offense to...I beat the crap out of a guy who hit my mother and i damaged his face badly, thought i was going to jail but nope and my year has pasted...The person can sue you, more than likely that's what will happen...

It's called battery. Any physical contact that is unwelcome is battery. Depending on the area in which you live and your age, you could certainly be in some pretty big trouble.
No one has the right to just haul off an punch someone else for no reason. No matter what.

Grow up- You punched him because you didn't like him? Are you four years old? Most people ignore people they don't like. You might have to pay a fine or go to jail - If I were you I would apologize and tell him what an immature jerk you are.

Maybe.... but probably just for a couple hours. Then you'll go to court and say you are sorry... blah, blah, blah. Everything will be fine until you do some other stupid thing.

Naaawww! if its your first offense..you should be ok as far as jail BUT..u can bet that you have a stiff lawsuit coming!! and he is gonna get paid!!!

Its possible! You will probably be charged with asault . If its your first time you will probably get probation and a fine.
