I've heard it is good to take certain vitamins with certain foods but am unclear when the best time to take multivitamins is compared to those of omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin E.

There is no best way to take supplements. Some providers of supplements come from food sources and are easily assimilated. Some oils in capsules need enzymes to convert the oils to fatty acids. Some supplements are made from synthetic ingredients which don't break down well or assimilate in the body well. Some supplements come from minerals that aren't water soluble which makes them hard to digest and absorb. The best advice I can offer is to read the labels. Look for ingredients that come from food sources. Find minerals that are water soluble. Find multi-vitamin/minerals that are well balanced for maximum usage. Your question is to simplistic for definitive answers.

Well the form of the vitamin makes a large difference. In the case of vitamin E the natural stuff is better than the lab made stuff. Look for d-alpha not dl-alpha. For calcium the calcium found in orange juice is great as is the tablet form of calcium citrate. Make sure you get 400 to 600 iu of vitamin d also. Fatty acids are easy to absorb as is most fats, so take them when you want perhaps with food you wont get so much the fishy taste. There are some fish oils now on the market that are much better and you wont burp up fish, look for it at Costco, or from Nature Made. The best is also to eat good wholesome foods, and get the good fiber and all that good stuff and you will be just fine. Trust me I am a doctor.

Vitamin E adsorbed well with fatty acids (oil).

I can only remember that cafferine will stop some vitamins from being adsorb properly. Vit c also will prevent some vitamins from being adsorb.

Cant really remember, need my book...

The best way is to take Vit E with Vit C with water or a C enriched juice. I take mine with water. Vit E protects C, and vice versa. Take Multi with Food, or it'll make you sick.
