I step barefoot on broken glass often and as long as you don't shuffle your feet, it doesn't hurt at all. I frequent train stations, city centers etc, and I haven't gone out of my way to avoid broken glass for all but the first year of my barefooting, when I was still a bit of a tenderfoot. Even so, I have *maybe* one small splinter a year; the kind that I pick out and ten minutes later I can't tell where exactly it was. NEVER had a worse injury from glass. Broken glass isn't a big deal if you have calloused feet and don't slide your feet around on it.

Chicken bones, on the other hand, no way... I'm very picky about bones, bone splintes, even hard bits of tendon in my food, I always doublecheck the chicken breast before I cook it to see if there isn't the tiniest bit left over. I know a small bit likely won't be harmful either but personally I just hate chomping down on a hard bit when I'm expecting tender meat! I could *never* swallow an entire bone!

Step on Broken Glass Barefoot.

Step barefoot on broken glass because you cannot assess the damage of swallowing a chicken bone hole nor can you predict you will choke to death.

You can lose a foot to gangrene, get it amputated and still live. You won't make it on time if you only have three minutes to try and get the bone out of your airway in the hopes that it doesn't tear a hole in your esophagus and you bleed internally.

step barefoot on glass. glass never hurt me, and if it's just a step, i'll be fine. as for swallowing a chicken bone, i have trouble swallowing a teeny tiny pill and i have to bite it. so as long as i intend to live, i'll go with broken glass barefoot.

uh. Those are both pretty disturbing. I would rather swallow the chicken bone, if it's small. And if there are tiny millions of pieces of glass, I would step on that.
