I lived there for 3 years with my wife a two kids. We (Canadians) loved it - had lots of friends (no, not just other expats but Singaporeans) and a great social life. Yes its a small place but very well organized. I have no problems with the laws in Singapore. I now live in Seoul Korea and I can't stand the lack of civility here - horrible traffic - cars routinely parked on the sidewalk, buses racing through red lights, pushing shoving, spiting, snorting - yes, I miss Singapore!! I was just there the other day while passing through Changi on my way back from Bali. I try to route my flights through Singapore to stop off and shop, see friends, and have some fantastic food !!!

Singapore is great! It has lots of examples of Chinese culture but it is much cleaner that Taiwan, Hong Kong and especially main land China... Also, the service you recieve there is top of the line and the level of technology and health care in the country is first rate; completely on par with Japan and the biggest American cities. Please pay close attention to the laws though, as Singapore is a very strict country. This is also a blessing as it is a very safe country (but of course if you go looking for trouble you can find it).

Good luck with your travels!

As a Singaporean, frankly, it's a rich Nation with poor citizen. The Government is one of the higher paid "Public Servant" in the world, and yet Singaporean were told to take care of themselve at their old age, that's why now a norm to see elderly Singaporean at their 70 still working.

In short, I don't like Singapore, hate the Government.

I like Singapore. Born and raised there. I'm now in the US, but I go back every June for a few months... >.> I want to go back... I want food.

And Singapore is interesting and it's beautiful, to whoever said it's not. Go visit the Botanical Gardens and the Night Safari, Sentosa, etc...

Singaporean and proud to be one.

My opinion is probably biased but I am happy to say that for a country with different races and cultures, it is fantastic that there is no discord or tension in our society.

Though the standard of service needs to be improved, the overall experience of living here is good. Having lived and worked overseas, I am always glad to be home and safe

yes, i've been there once... and i think it's really cool, the amusement parks, artificial snow, sort of science stuff, bazaars, zoo, and the bird park, art galleries, and good for people who especially likes shopping (coz they have shops even at the MRTs and underpass) etc... the place is so clean, with no beggars around asking for money.

my mom and i had fun during our stay. the people aren't that friendly though,... but the place is interesting. i think anyone would enjoy visiting the country, and since it's small you can easily go from one place to another.

Allow me to offer a divergent opinion: I found Singapore to be quite boring. I've been twice now and I find it to be superbly uninteresting compared with the surrounding countries in Southeast Asia.

Singapore is extremely clean, has great dining and a very good shopping scene but that's all it has to offer. It's expensive and lacks the beauty and edge of nearby countries.
