Yes, Genesis and the theory of Evolution are in conflict. However, Geniuses and Evolution are not. Genuses are part of taxonomy and are the result of evolution.

Depends on who you ask.

Some people like to interpret the book of Genesis quite literally. These people have decided to have a conflict with evolution.

Let's call them zealots.

I've heard zealots say things like, the Bible says the Earth is only 5000 years old, and that dinosaur bones are just red herrings that the devil put into the ground.

So, to answer your question, I do not personally think that Genesis is in conflict with evolution, so long as you try not to take it too literally. Is the bible a completely factual presentation of history, or a collection of stories that teach morals and ideals?

Genuses are part of the whole cladistic nomenclature of biology and are in no ways in conflict with evolution.
