Possibly because he dresses conservatively and has a level-headed reporting style. He does not talk about his personal life because he feels that will compromise his abilities as a journalist. He looks older than he really is (he was born in 1967) because his hair turned gray early.

People shouldn't gossip but Anderson Cooper IS gay. Its known fact that he is out of the closet but he prefers not to talk about his personal life so many people are not aware of his sexuality, as it should be.

My sister in law has a son which is gay.He told her,that Anderson is gay. You know,a gay business.No secrets.

What happens is that gay guys see famous people at gay bars and then they mention it to their friends, so it gets around. He has a right to keep it to himself if he wants to.
