C. Better led. British troops were used to fighting in formation style attack groups in open territory. Also, the rank and file soldiers were accustomed to NOT thinking for themselves, instead relying on the orders issued by their commanders. When the commanders were unable to adapt to the guerilla style hit and run tactics of the Continentals, the British army couldn't bring it's firepower to bear effectively. The Continental Army was able to evade the British forces and stay alive, even through the winter at Valley Forge, because the commanders were able to adapt to the environment and even use it to their advantage when attacking.

C, Better led.
Although the British commanders were highly trained and experienced, their training and experience was for European warfare. What they experienced in the colonies were hit-and-run tactics, fierce defense of home and property, and unorthodox bravery by leaders they considered beneath their dignity.

Traditional European battle tactics were to line up on the field of battle and shoot or charge at each other until one side collapsed or surrendered. Some of the early battles were fought like that, until the colonial forces figured out they hadn't a chance to prevail and astutely decided to play to their own strengths, not those of the British.
