Yes, it is easy, but not simple.

You might need to move far away from your friends and family, so that they don't physically attack you or constantly harrass you.

You might need to break ties with all your college friends and go live in a city where you won't end up like Matthew Shepherd bleeding to death on a wire fence in a cow pasture, but this is easier than dying or being crippled for life by gay bashers.

You might need to conceal who you are to your employer, if that employer is the Federal government, and they are paying to you defend 'Freedom' with your life, the same freedom you get to defend, as long as you 'don't tell' the truth.

Yes, it's easy to tell the truth, to leave jobs, people, places where you can't be honest. that's as easy as ice tea in the Tennesee shade on a summer's day.

Yes, it's easy to sped hundreds of your paycheck on therapy trying to get over the abusive religous bullshit you had shoved down your throat form childhood, always saying you are supposed to hide and be very, very guilty and ashamed for being who you are.

Oh, baby it's as easy as your flirty little avatar, which mocks the real difficulty in being gay. You have no idea what suffering has gone before you, so you get to have that flirty ambiguous avatar and name 'Who Knows.'

In my day they would break you legs and nose and then ask what it meant. Oh yeah, easy as apple pie.

Possible, yes. Easy? No. There's too much prejudice against gays in society. If you don't let it bother you, you'll be okay. But if you're a sensitive person, your life could be miserable. It's all in the way you accept the burden of prejudice.

Generally, cities are better than rural areas, and generally, there's going to be "good" parts and "bad" parts of said city. Getting more specific than that would require a lengthy and tedious list. That said, it's possible EVERYWHERE. It's just a matter of how much crap you'll have to put up with (but in most places, it is deal-able).

Although gay people can be fired from their jobs for no other reason than being gay, can be denied an apartment for no other reason than being gay, can be denied a home mortgage for no other reason than being gay, can be denied health insurance for their partner for no other reason than being gay, can be denied hospital visitation rights for no other reason than being gay, can be denied tax benefits for no other reason than being gay, can be denied retirement benefits for no other reason than being gay, can be denied pension benefits for no other reason than being gay, and are constantly under attack from other people for no reason except for who we happen to fall in love with; we will continue to live our lives in spite of those who hate us and will fight to have what others take for granted.

It is not always easy, but these hardships placed on us by those who do not take the time to understand us only makes us stronger and more willing to fight back against these injustices.

I'm bi, but my friends and family are very accepting and open so I really don't have a problem. Maybe it just depends on where you live?

Not yet. For some reason people are grossed out by the thought of a man lubing up and ramming his penis into another man's butt-hole.
