think motivational thoughts as u enter the class like why u r there in the first place. Sit where the teacher can see you, where you feel u wuld be most attentive. make sure u get enough excercie/sleep in your life. Excercising wakes your brain up with all the oxygen transported there. I find i do best at school when i excercise before going to school. It makes me focused and more motivated. I find i day dream when im not interested/not motivated. try and make ur classes more interesting--think about that grade you are gonna get. Set yourself a high standard/competition. Sit by someone very attentive--they will spread that virus 2 u somehow. Get a good routine--regular sleeping hours, same time...etc. Lack of excercise makes you tired. Good food will get u through the day--no junk food, eat veges, brown bread/rice..etc. Dnt eat simple carbs like white bread/pasta..etc. They make u very tired after a while. Keep your fluid levels up during class--water wakes u up somehow. Its all a state of mind so uve gotta push ur mind to wakeup and be attentive. Where u sit is important, sit by some1 hu does all their work, asks questions and is highly motivated--it motivates u to try hard. Good luck!

Aside from getting 9 hours of sleep each night (studies have shown that 8 is NOT enough) you should try avoiding carbs at least 3 hours before class. The after-carb crash is hard to resist. Falling asleep in class, in dark rooms, nodding at the wheel of a car, or basically anywhere during the day, are all signs of sleep deprivation. If you think that you get enough sleep at night, then there could be other reasons for falling asleep during the day such as oxygen deprivation from snoring or sleep apnea. If falling asleep during the day is a serious problem for you, then be sure to talk to your doctor about being screened for sleep disorders. That aside, try sitting closer to the front of the room, as eye strain can cause fatigue. Maybe sit next to a door where there is better ventilation. Wear lighter clothing so you aren't too cozy warm. Good luck!

Nothing ever worked for me! I used to sit in the front and still fell asleep. Even in small (6 students) classes I fell asleep. Even in the most interesting classes with the most interesting professors. My friends eventually gave up trying to keep me awake. Usually I'd fall asleep after 15 minutes, have a 10-15 minute nap, and then I'd be able to stay away for the rest of the class.

You'd never guess what I do for a living now - I'm a college professor! Needless to say, I don't take offense when my students fall asleep in my class (but oddly enough they don't often fall asleep - so weird).

Here's some suggestions:

1. Doodle/Draw on the inside of your notebook.
2. Count something obscure like the amount of girls wearing white tank tops. Keep a tally everyday. To make it more interesting make a bet about how many people will wear/do a certian thing. The winner gets a Keg.
3. Sit in front - the only downfall is that if you still can't keep your eyes open, everyone will see you sleeping. Including your professor.
4. If it is a class where open discussion is welcome, start speaking. Getting involved is always a good way to keep awake.
5. Pass notes back and forth to a good friend sitting by you.
6. Play games on your calculator. Expecially good if you have one of those texas instruments calculators.
7. Use your cellphone to text message someone.
8. Spy on that kid in class who always brings his laptop and pretends to be taking notes.
9. Drink Mountian Dew/Coffee/Energy Beverage Etc.
10. Bring some food with you. Eating always seems to work!

These are just a few suggestions, but there are tons more.

I don't know what these people are talking about....Chemical intake is the way to go. Take no sleeping pills. Though I had a bad experience with 'no doze' once. However, It did keep me up. Preferably, drink a pot of coffee. Even if you are extremely resistant to caffeine the urge to pee every 5 mins. will keep you awake.

When I was in college, my strategy was to sit near the front so the professor could see me. I was embarrassed when my head would start to nod and the professor would see me. Hope this helps!

there is distinctive levels of sleep. The REM point is as quickly as we dream, and we are no longer deeply asleep as quickly as we try this, that's why you could sleep all night and awaken drained. in uncomplicated terms the deeper sleep refreshes us. the pinnacle springing up and down shows they're semi-conscious, for seconds at a time and reacting to stimulus around them. I surely have considered a lorry motive force as quickly as that grew to become into doing that. I beeped the horn of the vehicle till he grew to become into totally conscious and pointed to a turning off the toll street that grew to become into springing up! He took it and lived to tell the story, yet he would not have been conscious he grew to become into asleep on the wheel till I saved beeping. additionally, it is conceivable to do better than merely pass slightly on your sleep, or toss and turn, yet some human beings can stroll and talk of their sleep and seem to be wide awake, even while they do no longer look to be! i've got been sleepwalking myself. i've got taken the canine out whilst i'm asleep. i've got woken as much as a pair of muddy and drained canine, and dirt throughout my mattress and garments!

a good night sleep will do. but if the class is really boring or if u're a real sleepy head, try coffee and chocolate. that's a power booster and it should keep u awake. i work at night and so far, it keeps me up for the rest of my shift.
