I am on vacation right now and I lost my wallet on the way from O`Hare airport in Chicago. So with my wallet gone, my license, credit cards, money and bank cards are with them.

I am not a bum just a victim of misfortune.

The embassy is worthless, they told me to quote Leech off your friends until your flight leaves. At this point, I have two days left, I think I should be able to bum around the streets of Tokyo for a few days.

Check with the US Embassy in Tokyo (Ginza) if they can help you. There are American Consulates in Osaka, Sapporo, Nagoya, Fukuoka and Naha. I think if they explain your situation, they maybe able to help.

If you are staying in one place for awhile, you can always have someone send traveler's cheques via Global Express Mail from the US. Should get there within a couple of days. The exchange rate from US dollars to yen is usually better when using traveler's cheques anyway. Good luck!
