They just naturally are. In a comedic sense, most tall athletic people play tall people sports. Like volleyball, track, basketball and so on. When people walk down the street and see a 6 foot 10 person walking around, they immediately think basketball. I know its a stereotype, but if Yao Ming wasnt 7-5, you think he would be in the NBA? Obviously basketball players have incredible tallent who are not that tall (Earl Boykins, Nate Robinson, Bogues, Spud Webb, ect) But the obvious world norm of height for women is between 5ft to 5-8. A woman standing 6 plus that doesn't look like a typical model, is most likely athletic with sports that help to be tall.

Well, ANY type of basketball player (females included) would greatly benefit from being tall. Female track stars, on the other hand, are usually tall because they have sports dietitians that guide them in their growth as an athlete and probably encourage them consume lots of CALCIUM and VITAMIN D.

Your question is backwards. Tall females are track and basketball stars because, longer legs make faster runners and taller bodies usually make better basketball players.
