We have a D-Link wireless router in our home that handles the Internet connection for all the devices in our house. I've been trying ever since we got it, however, to handle a full on home network, with file and printer sharing. I've done everything I can think of, I must have run that stupid Network Setup Wizard half a dozen times. The Internet sharing works fine, now I need file/printer sharing. Every device in the house is connected via wireless, except for one PC which is hardwired into the router via ethernet.

What operating system are you running (XP Home, XP Pro, MAC OS)? That will determine part of the problem in setting up your file and print sharing...

One thing to make sure (if you have XP) is that every user has an account on every machine in your home network, or at least each user has an account on whatever machine(s) are sharing files and printers. If you are using XP Home, your networking efforts are basically wasted, because home networking on XP Home is a nightmare.

Things to look for:
-- Can you see you computers in Network Neighborhood?
-- Can ANY of the machines see any of the other machines?
-- Are you able to give a share name to folders/printers?

I'd be more than happy to help out. Just email me with my yahoo answers username at yahoo.com....

First things first, the reason why you cannot get your printer to work, is that it is most likely connected to a computer on the network. As such, it will most likely associate itself with that single computer only. What you can do is go to a local computer store and get whats called a Wired/Wireless Print hub. From there, you can connect your printer to the hub via the USB port. Once you have that connected, connect the hub to the network as a separate part attached to the network (ie with its own slot in the router. if necessary, get a hub to get more ports). Once that is done, try running the network setup wizard again. Hopefully it will now recognize the printer as capable of sharing.

well first you need to make sure all of the computers are on the same workgroup (have the same worgroup name).

then you need to try loggin on to the computers from one another.
(ex. start--->run: type in //computername)

It should promt you for a password, so you shoudl put a common user on all of the machines or put all users on all machines, either one wil work.

Now, once you are at the computer where the printer is setup, you need to enable that printer to be shared and choose a share name ( ex. start-->settings-->printers and faxes: right click on printer and choose sharing. Here yu can make a share name (ex. epson))

Now in order to share files, you will have to go into the c: drive and share it and give it a share name. I would also make sure to restrict access to it in the permissions dialog. go to My Computer--->right click on drive you want to share on each computer---> choose sharing and security.
Be sure to read up on the security aspects of doing this and be sure you have a firewall on each computer.

Hope that helps
