Feelings of stress are caused by the body's instinct to defend itself. This instinct is good in emergencies, such as getting out of the way of a speeding car. But stress can cause physical symptoms if it goes on for too long, such as in response to life's daily challenges and changes.

When this happens, it's as though your body gets ready to jump out of the way of the car, but you're sitting still. Your body is working overtime, with no place to put all the extra energy. This can make you feel anxious, afraid, worried and uptight.

So instead of responding to your stress & doing something physical, your feelings manifest in you stomach.

It can just be your body's way of dealing with stress. Everyone reacts differently. I have muscle aches in my neck. I would try to start practicing relaxation techniques when you become upset. Such as yoga, breathing, massage, bubble bath anything that works for you. You will always have stress and you will become nervous sometimes. But remember you can handle anything. Say a little prayer or tell yourself that you are a wonderful person that is courageous and can tackle anything. Also another thing you could have Irratiable Bowel Syndrome which becomes worse when you are stressed.

Sounds like stress to me. When I get really stressed, I tend to clench up my muscles. If I think about it, I can relax them, but if I don't it could lead to a belly ache.

If it's really interfering with your daily life, you may want to talk with your doctor about it. It could be something more than just stress, which your doctor can determine with a few tests. Or you may need to take some anti-anxiety medication or learn some relaxation techniques.

Chevy,

That's how you deal with stress. Me too. It's not good, huh?

Try exercising. It's a positive way to relieve stress. Running works for me.

Some people deal with problems by internalizing things. When you internalize, your body reacts in physical ways.
