I was born july 13th and my husband on june 5th. are we straight Cancer and Gemini? What's the "rising" mean?

A rising sign, or more commonly, an Ascendant sign, is a part of your birth chart. I like to think of it as the "mask" that you wear to the outside world. There are three important signs in anybody's natal chart, and it's the Sun sign (the "inner" you), the moon sign (your emotions) and the Ascendant, or the "outer" you.

You can find out what your rising sign is if you go to a site like www.astro.com and type in your birth information. You definately need to know your birth time. That's cruicial. If you mess up your birth time by even a few minutes, it can throw off your entire natal chart. I know with someone like me, if I would've been born even 5 minutes later, my rising sign would be completely different than it is now. You also need to know where you were born, and of course the date :)
