There are lots of decent guitars out there for good prices. Check out deals.com or browse pawn shops. Epiphone makes a great guitar for not too much$ and can last you forever. I've been playing guitar for over 30 years & I own one! Hope this helps!

If i were you, I would go on ebay. You can either get a used guitar or a brand new one. I got a really nice one for only 150 bucks.... the vendor is called 2kool4skool.
They are very helpful and have a wide selection of electric guitars.

It depends what you want to sound like. Carlos Santana plays a PRS and sounds amazing, and John Lee Hooker does too playing a Gibson semi acoustic. Swap guitars and it wouldn't be right. Everything from the weight and balance of a guitar to the radius of the fretboard and the thickness of the wire used to wind the pickups will make a difference to the sound and or the feel of the guitar. Whatever works for you is the best brand to buy.

Get a Fender Stratocaster Copy, it's a good starter and it's good for taking on the road.
