I want to create a pair of jeans that actually fit. Is there a way to do this?

Lands End will create jeans special made for anyone. They are really cheap, at about $50.00-$60.00 a pair and I love them! I am tall and have really narrow hips, and long legs. I could not find a jean I really loved for me, I just settled, until these! You could not make your own jeans any cheaper.

If you aren't a sewer (which I will assume since you don"t know where to get fabric or a pattern) don't attenpt it. Because denim is a heavy fabric, you need a serger and a heavy duty machine to do it properly. Also, the denim they sell in fabric stores, from my experience, is "geeky" looking. It is not worn looking but either too dark or vey blue.

I TOTALLY understand your situation. I hate jean shopping because they never fit me right. I started shopping at a trendy consignment store. They have tons of different brands of jeans and I have found some there that fit....

GOOD LUCK!!

Granted if this is your first attempt at sewing with denim, Most tailor shops or seamstress shops can do this for you. It may take some time for them to take measurements of the proportions of your waist, hips and legs.

However, If you feel your ready to progress to the next level:

Most patterns will state many types of fabrics can be used. The site listed above is but one site with patterns. And true all sewing shops or fabric shops have these patterns.

For instance. Jo Ann has sales on these patterns. At particular times, a $15.00 pattern will cost you $1.00 plus tax when it is on sale. So learn when and where you can get these at great bargains.

P.S. Once I was able to sew, and designed my wife's wedding dress and other items for a local 80's heavy metal band using these same patterns. Mixing and matching many patterns to achieve the desired look.

They are both pretty useless in terms of their resistance to abrasion because it will all be shaved off from the asphalt. The blunt trauma from hitting the ground is what does the damage and no fabric will significantly help without the assistance of the underlying padding. Put on a pair of jeans, jog, then drop to your knees on the asphalt. Then do so with the cotton pants. You will find that they both don't help. They will both tear up and your knees will be cut and in pain. And that isnt with any speed.

yeah, good luck... jeans that fit...

you need to go to a fabric store & get a pattern. they come in boxes according to the style you want. that is where you start. as far as fabric is concerned, you can usually find jean-ish fabric there. i would suggest starting with a basic pant though, because jean material is going to be a pain. you will need a great sewing machine.
