I'm thinking about buying a regular stethoscope or a fetal stethoscope and wanted to know if anyone else has done so while pregnant and how early they were able to hear the baby's heartbeat, at home.

A regular stethoscope is really hard to hear a baby heart beat with at any stage of pregnancy. My husband is a nurse and it was hard for him to hear it even at 30 weeks. I think a fetal stethoscope is so worth your money if its that important to you to hear your baby whenever you want. I believe alto of models (around $50 -75) can usually start picking up a baby thump around 20 weeks or less in some cases. Good Luck!!

the position did you get it and how a lot did you pay for it? because many of the more most cost effective, extra instantly ahead keep offered fetal dopplers have contained in the teachings that this is not stated to even attempt to locate the pulse till nicely into the third trimester. they're extremely unreliable and reason a good number of undue stress. i purchased an extreme priced one which change into on sale at a medical furnish keep and characteristic been able to %. it up considering 24 weeks. merely keep in thoughts, you get what you pay for... also, a number of the dopplers used at truthfully places of artwork have worry figuring out on up the pulse at 10 weeks...this is a few distance too early.

more times than not you are hearing your own heartbeat.
It is best to see how easy it is for the doctor to find (and where he/she is finding it) before you try to do it at home.
you will just cause yourself unnecessary stress if you end up not finding it.
the equiptment that doctors have is very very sensitive for it.--the stuff you buy in the stores is not--with the prenatal monitors out there-it says right on the package you probably wont be able to find a heartbeat on your own until well into the 3rd trimester.
dont waste the money on a stethoscope--there are too many other noises that get picked up, they arent meant to listen for a babys heartbeat.

I heard it around 20 weeks and sometimes I couldn't find the heartbeat at all and it would scare me. I wouldn't recommend buying one but it is your decision. Good luck and Congrats!
