I guess it depends on what you think anti-Americanism is. If you believe criticizing American policy is anti-American, than your assumption may be correct. But I don't think questioning your government is anti-American. On the contrary, if you don't believe in what your government is doing, you must stand up and say how you feel; that is what being a citizen of a democracy is all about!

Let me give you an example:
If you are against abortion and think it should be illegal, and your government legalizes abortion, supports a woman right to choose, and you don't like what your government is doing, stand up and speak against it, does that make you anti-American? No! In fact it makes you very American and a good citizen; an active participant.

It is no different than a person who stands up against war for example. They are doing what they think is right. You may think that makes them foolish, but it doesn't make them anti-American.

It is very dangerous to live in a country were you can't stand up against policy. Not only is it our right, but it is our responsibility.

I have many criticisms of this country, but I promise you I am very very American. My family has fought in every war, has protested every war, and help make this country from the very beginning! I am directly descended from a man who signed the declaration of independence. I am center to liberal, and am as American as they come.

I may not fit into some peoples superficial idea of what being American is (i.e. flag waving, church going, war supporting, gay hating, cowboy hat toting, etc.), but there are very few out there as AMERICAN as me!

Its not that they are anti-American as so much as they feel guilty, about life,as the world didctates to them, they dont realize the good we do for the world but only see the negativ-ism.they think everyone should have everything(its a beautiful dream, but thats all it is and they dont understand that they can start right now,all they have to do is share everything they own and trust me their ideals would start to come around when they had to do without

Liberals are anti american??? No hon, you have it all twisted, we like America to have honor, to be the best place to live in. That's why liberals protect the enviroment, that's why liberals fund education, that's why liberals protect the freedoms of speech and privacy granted to you in the constitution, that's why we are against torture, that's why liberals help the poor and middle classes first, that's why liberals protect the earth, that's why liberals protect the elderly, that's why liberals want the troops to be safe at home, instead of being in a war of choice that only puts money in the pockets of a few well connected individuals... man I guess we ARE pro_America huh? Maybe you should look deep inside you, you may be a liberal and not know it

You make a great many assumptions with that question. One, it presupposes that your definition of what 'American' means is expert and accurate. Two, it presupposes your qualification to judge the intentions and purposes of 'so many liberals.' Three, it presupposes none of your readers/answerers require more than a blanket statement of your opinion to accept its truth. I venture to suggest, you are wrong on all counts.

You are making the typical novice mistake of confusing being anti government with being anit american.

Liberals founded this country, wrote the constitution and Bill of Rights, and pushed forward everything that has made life better for everyone.

It is conservatives that are unamerican. You do not support the constitution, which is the only thing that counts.

You can't get out of bed without benefiting from the work liberals and progressives have had to fight you people for.

As a female, you wouldn't be able to vote if not for us. We had to fight you all the way.

Liberals are not anti-American. Liberals are anti-corruption. Have you been listening to Rush and Anne?

I think your question reflects an old adage: Most would rather be ruined with praise rather than helped by criticism.
