Why? Because you have good taste and it was the best era of music ever! The proof if this is that the music still stands up today, some 30 years later. How much of today's music do you think will still be listened to in 30 years? Very, very little. Classic Rock was a sort of art movement really, it inspired a whole generation, and was a great backdrop against the turbulent times of the 60's and '70's. It was more than music. And it was totally new, with electricity added to the fledgling rock of the '50's. It was raw and emotional, before the plague of MTV and boy bands and hip hop and divas and little whining girls like Britney. The artists then believed in their music and it carried a message. Most of today's music is contrived and sterile by comparison. Classic Rock will always rule.

because thats what you grew up leistening to.you must have been born in early or mid 60's
be thankful that you did'nt grow up to the 80's boy band, break danceing, cheesy songs that dont make sence, hair bands (guys that looked like girls with make-up worse than the lady on the street corner music)
note; I'm not saying ALL 80's, 90,2k music was bad but i have to agree music was great back in mid 60's to about 77 till disco came out,Elvis dies?,KISS breaks up,then music seemed to decline more studio alblums with lip singing, one man mixers, less live bands, less talent, more show's.
That what has happened no more real punk, rock & roll, jazz, blues, speed metal, even country music isnt as good as it was,and im not a big fan of country music.
I'm sad to say this but, our time has passed in music and has left us with breaking out with alblums from past, enjoy what ever music you like, that is what makes who you are and i feel old now cause i just cant get into this rap scene and wont!
nice to see that there is somebody that enjoys what i think is the best 60's and 70's

First I would say you are from that era, as am I. My reason for having more appreciation for the artists from that time though has a lot to with they're incredible skills as musicians. Remember seeing groups like the Beatles with knee high marshal amps on stage, and that was it for their equipment. There was no doubt about their talent then, what you saw was what you got. There are many reasons but the fact that groups back then were writing, composing and performing because that is what they loved to do. Success was secondary. Sadly, that type of artist is rare and usually unnoticed by the money driven promoters and distributors today. Example: Britany Spears and all the other lip synch'rs jambed down our ears today. Enjoy and rock on!

The music was "Music" back then. It really had meaning, and you can actually understand what they are singing. I love the music from the 60's and 70's, I grew up on it, I am 33, my children even know the words to most of the songs from back then. Whenever I feel down I just listen to the "oldies" and it makes me feel lots better.

Because much of the rock music from the 80s, 90s and 21st century are just knockoffs from the 60s and 70s. You prefer getting it directly from the source, with no middle man.
