Are there laws for landlords to have smoke detectors in all apartments? If so, refer me to that particular law.

It's a matter of local law and ordinance. You're going to have to give a location to get an answer that means anything.

I don't know where you live so these examples might be off base..

1)New York City ordinance requiring landlords to install smoke detectors in all apartments at a maximum charge to tenants of ten dollars.
2)Vermont Apartment Owners Association -Lease addendum for care of Smoke and CO Detectors Detectors
3)In November 2005 the Massachusetts Legislature passed “Nicole’s Law,” which requires smoke detectors and carbon-monoxide detectors in all residential properties, following a tragic accident in Plymouth.
