They already do get payed. They get tens of thousands of dollars in college scholarships some of them don't deserve. They can go to schools like Notre Dame and Standford etc.... with mediocre grades while other students without athletic ability, but are who much better students have a lot harder time getting in and get less scholarship money when they are the ones who deserve it. I think it is selfish that they want revenue made by the NCAA. What are your thoughts?

I didn't know that they did complain about not getting paid. That's news to me.

Yeah, I just read that article. Everyone who said that should be slapped to wake them up! I totally agree with Jon.

They don't get paid? I'm still paying of my student loans. They don't have any. It should be required that they take a portion of their signing bonus and give someone else a scholarship.

Also, technically, you go to college for an education. I'm not stupid, I know many of the players don't care about education, but you don't go to college and get paid. You go to college so you can go on a get paid in a professional field. Whether it's on a football field or in an office somewhere. It's a stepping stone where you pay your dues one way or another.

However, I HAVE a GREAT idea! I think all the athletes in the college get paid from the bowl games and they do away with athletic scholarships! Even better pay all the students! Sorry, that last paragraph was sarcastic.

Anyway, I'll quit ranting and simply say. NO, college athletes have no right to that money.

I agree with you. It just shows what our society has become. I mean look @ any pro sport- $126 million for say 7 years as an example. I mean come one they are getting paid to play a game. Most of those people couldn't survive a week @ jobs such as lawyers or computer people who actually do know what they are talking about. College players will say they want paid because they could want a reason to stay in college athletics longer. Granted I play sports and hope to get a college scholarship, but I would say I have the grades to back it up having close to a 3.83 in High School. Now I'm not trying to brag but I think that college athletes who are more intelligent should get the scholarships and then in the scholarship make it a stipulation to complete a degree and not leave for money early. And also my sport doesn't get much money in scholarships as I am a runner, and my friend from last year's graduating class was an outstanding runner and only got like $1000 scholarship and he was top 15% of his class.

I can see this both ways, those guys earn their scholarships with the extra hours they put it. Alot of those guys put in enough work to get good grades on top of doing their practice hours. Now about getting a cut of the BCS money, thats a maybe, because I myself being a college student, earn most of my money for food etc, by having a job, these guys have no time for a job, and I know they get a food allowance or whatever, but thats what the college players (the not retarded ones) are saying, that they would just like a little more for food etc.

So idk im on the fence I guess.

I just have to point out, even if they are greedy, its not like the AD's and the Presidents arent, all they care about is money too so what kind of example do they set?

I'm sure they all do just based on the odds of actually getting signed by a NFL team and GETTING PAID are not that good at all. So of course the media will make this a big deal like they do every year around the BCS bowls... just like the big debate about having playoffs instead of 50 different bowls where just the one on Monday actually matters. Freedom of speech can really be tiresome with all these debates.

me either i didn't know that they complained bout not getting paid. they shouldn't be getting paid because it is a college sport and the college cannot be pulling money out of the sports fund to pay them because all the other sports programs in the college would be cut due to selfishness of some players. if you go pro then yes by all means should you be paid. but college no.

They are delusional. They think that they are better than they really are. None of them are proven beyond the amatuer realm of college sports. They are individually one small part of the system. When one can prove themselves as professional (paid) caliber performers, the money will come.

It's analogous to an apprentice learning a trade for 4 or 5 years, b****in' and moaning the whole time about $$$. Then when he or she "tops out", they realize they don't know S***!

I agree, the sad part is that all that schooling reserved for them is wasted, most of them have come out of college barely abled to spell their name. The thing is,the colleges are not the only ones to blame, they start them on that path since high school, where their school work is being done for them, many times jocks were taken out of the room just when a test was being taken place with a big smile in their face, and the teacher would explain they would take the test later
