It surges when I take my foot off of the accelerator. Someone told me that it could bt the exhaust regulator valve...any advice? Thanks!

I am sure that you mean the EGR valve (exhaust gas recirculation). Sometimes they get clogged up so you need to clean it. This will cause idle surges. I would check the fast idle valve and the IAC first though, this is more common.

Never heard of a exhaust regulator valve. lol Probably dirty carburator or needs a tune up. Also if you have a parts house, AutoZone, or whatever ask them for some free advice also.

exhaust regulator valve never heard of that? Try a tune up and haveing a diagnostic check

Hi,

Sounds like you have a malfunctioning throttle position sensor.
Your accelerator, or gas pedal, controls the TPS and it is obviously not functioning properly.

can't really help except if you go buy a book for you car at the auto store it has a section in the front that can narrow down the problem.
