If she really doesn't want to play anymore, then don't make her. Once she quits, perhaps she'll see that she misses it and she'll go back to it. But if she really doesn't like it and wants to quit, then let it go. It's her decision.

Just be supportive of her. Say something along the lines of, "I really wish you wouldn't quit playing the violin, but if you really don't want to play anymore, then that's your choice." Maybe when she's older she'll realize that she should've just stuck with it and she'll get back to playing.

Oh, dear. I used to play violin, and I know what it's like to give up on it. If she's amazingly talented, ask her why she wants to give up the violin. Try to reason with her, and tell her how good she is at it. In the end, though, it's her choice. You don't want to make her play it, because then she'll lose any love she has for the violin. Try giving her the option of taking a "break" from the violin just to see whether or not it's for her. Either way, support her -- she's your daughter, and it's not a big enough thing to make a huge fuss about.

She may have other interests right now. But she will probably get back to violin later. If she played 14 years, she is probably pretty good at it. You could suggest that she teach private violin, so she will have something to do to stimulate her musically.

Don't pester her to stick with it. If her heart truly isn't in it, don't make her stay with it or she won't be dedicated. Let her give up if she genuinely wants to. You just want what's best for her, right? Let her do what she wants sometime.
