My best friend and I just can't seem to figure out why our husbands are SOOOOOOOOOO obsessed with football. They watch it, read about it, play it on xbox, watch it on the dvr, go on the internet and read about it, talk about it 24/7....pretty much don't do anything else. They would rather watch or talk about football than have sex!?!?! How can this be?!?!? GUYS SUCK!!!!

Yes we like shopping, however, we do not shop 24/7...if we did, we would be poor. They, on the other hand, never stop with the football. We can deal with it sometimes but not at 5am!!!! This **** is ridiculous!

Hey Susan B, does your husband wake you at 5am blasting sports center? Does he miss weddings and other special events b/c he has to stay home and watch football? Does he have a ridiculous football collection and a room to house it all? Most of which he has never used and includes stuff that would never fit him or be of any use to him in any way. I doubt it...

Men by nature are very competative. Football represents the ultimate in competition. In the animal kingdom the males compete each other for the female. It involves physical contact and the best "male" wins.
I would venture to say that competition in the male is genetic. While the 21st century male doesn't compete for food, dominance in the clan or village the genetic makeup of men make them predisposed to competative physical sports.
It feeds the need. On the same note, a woman's love for shopping feeds the "gathering/nesting" instinct.
I love to shop and my husband loves football. I shop while he watches football... IT works for us! Now the whole love for football over sex thing might be a sign of marital or relationship issues more than the love for football.

I think it's a common bonding thing for the guys. They'd like to have somthing they can share. I mean if your friend wants to go shopping, aren't you reaching for the car keys while putting on your shoes.
Then, there's the whole primal thing, they score and they throw things. And this is fun!?!??!?!!! My significant other calls his dad every Sunday to talk about, egads, futbol (Spanish for football.)
