that's an easy choice to make,,if you want something that will last,get the Nissan,, i own a repair shop,and i can tell you from experience these are real good cars,,i do maintenance work on them,,but never any major repairs on them,,i also own one of them,,and i have to say this is one car that you can get your moneys worth from,but id choose the Nissan any day,,you,ll be driving the Nissan ten years from now,,there that good,,good luck i hope this help,s.

1998 Ford Focus is a reliability nightmare from hell. Check Consumer Reports.

I suggest you forget both.

Go for a 1996-8 Toyota Corolla or a 1996-8 Honda Civic instead.

If you must choose between your original two then the Nissan is the much much better choice.

Don't do it! The sentra has gone on to a larger car. Two body styles ago the 1998 was a good car but very underpowered especally with an automatic. I don't reccomend either of these small cars used unless you really want a small car and can get into for less than $2,500. Aim Higher!

I own a newer Focus and love it.. that said back in 98 Nissan is far better.. and I think 98 was the first year for Focus and it took a couple of years to get the bugs out.

What it come down to is how weel you maintneance your vehicle. The Ford will last just as long if you take care of it. Preventative manintenance is the key factor. Neglect a vehicle and it wont last. I would pick the Ford. Im a big American vehicle guy. :)

I say go Nissan. '98 was the first year for the Focus, and it had plenty of recalls from that period.

American cars are crap! The Nissan will last you another 15 years if you want it too!
