when anyone comes to visit me although I am glad to see them at first after about an hour I wish they would go away again as I just want to be left on my own. Am I being anti social or has anyone else got this same problem. Some of my family and friends think I must be lonley but I am not in the slightest and just love being on my own and doing what I want to do anytime I want to do it.

I'm with you, have lived alone for just over 6 years and I love being alone and not at all lonely.

That probably depends a lot on the people that visit. Are they really close friends? Perhaps you live in a new area where new friends come to visit? Are you mature?

I've lived alone for years now and only get fed up when my neighbour comes round all the time. He lives with his gf and tends to use me as an escape from her I think! (you'd realise why if you saw her). She even came round during the world cup, all tearful, asking me to organise sth for his birthday - I'd known the guy 2 months ffs!

Anyway - as long as you're happy with your own space thats fine although you may find it difficult moving in with a partner at a later date. As we mature we tend to get set in our ways.

What I do is ask people to make an appointment to come round. If they just turn up then let them know as they come in that you have something to do so they shouldn't stay long.

But yes - you are not alone in wanting privacy.

It's called valuing your own personal space. And anyway who likes having people come over especially if it's unannounced and the place needs tidying up and there's nothing for them to drink etc. I'd sooner take them out to the local bar or somewhere else for a while, because it's hard work entertaining your guests on your own at home.

I can feel that way sometimes. I live with my son and partner and as much as I love them I do look forward to some time alone.

sure I feel like that way sometimes, I mean its nice to have friends and family over but I prefer to be alone most of the time. I dont like alot of noise, and my family smoke so that is another problem.

actually , i disagree with everyone else's answer .
you should actually enjoy others company when they visit you.
of course it's normal to spend a few hours relaxing after work ,as long as that does not mean becoming moody when people visit after just one hour.
you may have to relearn to spend time alone with others.

Yes, that's why we hook up with someone. That seems to be the only way I can tolerate someone hanging out with me for any length of time.

What you actually have is something called "cabin fever" albeit a mild dose. It's actually quite common and from time to time I get it myself.
