It was -25F yesterday, but that was our coldest temp so fay this winter. And about the coldest you could see in Anchorage. Typical would be 15-20F in Feb. But it could be -20 or +40F. Clothing is very casual and functional. Lots of Carhartts on both men and women.

Fortunately, we don't get super cold AND windy (like MN) because of the ocean nearby.

Turtlenecks help keep your throat warm. Scarf and good hat and good gloves are important when it gets cold. Look for a neoprene face mask in a ski shop if you want to be prepared for a moderate hike on a cold day. Or wrap your face in the scarf.

Ask a skiier friend to borrow things if you need them. A big coat is convenient because you can shed it at the door without having to peel off 3 layers.

Many newbies put more and more stuff on their trunk but never insulated their legs. Ski bibs ("powder pants") are ugly but functional. I like flannel-lined jeans (LL Bean as looking pretty normal but adding another layer. Or go with jeans a 1/2 size larger and wear thermal underwear under them. You don't need super high-tech fibers (those do work), cotton is fine - there'll be no liquid water until "break-up" in April.

Leggings and a heavy wool skirt with t-neck, blouse and wool sweater would be dress-up clothes locally in Feb. Add a heavy coat to go outside.

More important for your interview, IMO, is if you can talk the talk. Both within your field of study and about how you'll do removed from family and friends, during the long dark nights in winter, and the first time you're walking down a city path and come upon a moose.

I grew up in Alaska, and it is at it's coldest in January and February! The temperature there is around 0 degrees right now, and it shouldn't be too much warmer in February.
Bring clothing that you can layer, that way if it does get a bit warmer in February, you can still dress comfortably. Sweaters are always good, fleece pullovers are nice, and be sure to bring a nice warm overcoat or parka just in case. Bring some decent footwear; it gets incredibly icy sometimes. Most indoor places have the heat cranked way up this time of year, that's why the layers come in handy. When you go indoors, you can just take off a layer or two and be just comfy!
Hope this helps.

The weather in Alaska is similar to New York, maybe colder. What I would suggest, is to go to weather.com and check the 7or 10 day forecast for Anchorage AK and see what it says. Also you can compare it to the weather where you are and decide from there. Hope this helps. :-)

well, when i went to alaska in august i found the weather changed often. Sometimes i would just walk around the cruise ship in jeans and a lond sleeved tee shirt, and other times i had on a shirts, light jacket, and leather jacket and sweatpants all at the same time. So just bring a little of everythin and layer if you need to

I even have heard from pals that Norgie are very good, yet i've got no longer tried them myself, so could no longer say from experience. under Armor is surely good; you merely layer up with the genuin articles over those. You definately desire a mild weight windproof layer, you are able to desire to be water evidence throughout, heat and able to pass while kitted out! good ingredient approximately layers is which you will do away with them and positioned them back as mandatory. additionally, ensure you have have been given all the different heat upload-ons that are going to conceal up as many physique aspects as a hazard, which is composed of your face. visit a expert shop in case you haven't any longer already. i would be questioning of you jointly as i'm sitting in the sand in my t shirt, all coated in airborne dirt and dust and sunlight block observing the camels.
