dread or anguish. in english, however, Angst (i give it the capital on purpose) has been imported by philosophers to mean a specific kind of dread or anguish or fear. not the fear or dread of something in particular, but dread, the dread of nothing or nothingness.

Angst therefore becomes a catchall word for the condition of modern man, but only if he is awake enough to know what his actual condition is. thats if you're asking what Angst is so you can do an assignment on existentialism...

It's German for "fear". I watched a movie called "Angst Essen Seele Auf", which basically means "Fear Eats Up The Soul". The American dictionary is loaded with words and phrases that have origins from other languages, such as "rendez-vous", which is French for "appointments", and "et cetera" which is Latin for "and so forth". "Angst" is a word that came to America from Germany, or at least from the German language, meaning "fear" or "dread".

I believe it is a negative term, meaning no or against or negatory. I think.
