I am just curious as to whether or not most women do this, and if they do, why. Also, is it common to just trim the hair so it is not as long? How would I go about doing this? Answers from either gender are appreciated. Thanks.

I always hear people talking about "just trimming it" and I'm also curious if that makes it prickly?

I just answered a similar question, here was my answer:

It depends on the preference of the guy you're having sex with. Before I had sex for the first time I shaved almost all my hair off, mostly around the part the penis would be touching because I assumed that would be itchy and uncomfortable for him. I left a little vertical strip of hair above my clitoris because I felt like I was prepubescent when I shaved it all off a while back, and I don't like feeling like I'm being raped by a pedophile. My boyfriend hasn't complained, he seems to like it.

Some women who are not sexually active do shave for hygienic reasons because menstrual blood and other substances may get caught in the hairs and are harder to wash out.

Trimming the hair is nice and makes it feel like you have less of a massive bush in your pants, just take small scissors or clippers and BE CAREFUL!

Many women do, but many don't. That's what I've gathered, anyway. If you don't want to do it, don't. If you do, go ahead, but make sure you're extremely careful. It can be painful when growing back (not saying this from personal experience, though). It can also be dangerous if you don't use the right type of razor. My best suggestion would probably be to either do nothing, or, if you really want to get rid of some of it, just trim it. But if you do, do it for you, not for anyone pressuring you. Good luck!

Well if u are a first timer.YOu want to just trim it.Shaving will give you ingrown hairs, and whatnot. But you can trim close to the skin so you can get a natural but yet sexy, cute look ;),or just shave once in a while.Having too much hair stinks!

I think trimming depends on how clean you are, how much you sweat or just how do you like it. As for shaving you should try trimming first ans see how it works for you. I suggest you try both, there is nothing as the hair, if you don't like it, it will grow again, so you have nothing to loose.

you don't have to shave. I for one don't shave very often but I do trim it. I have very sensitive skin so I get the red bumps and bad ingrown hairs, so i choose not to shave. They make lady trimmers for down there. I bought a pair and I also use hair clippers it gets the job done quicker. Plus my husband doesn't mind. So its up to you and how you feel about it.

That's a decision you'll need to make on your own. And no, I don't think most women do (at least when I was in h.s.,college, the army and graduate school). Once I got married 25 years ago....I can neither confirm or deny. Also, remember when your hair grows back it will itch. And you will be tempted to scratch it....perhaps in public. Just a thought to consider.

I'd be careful... you can have problems if you use the wrong kind of shaving creams (like if you use a guy's shaving cream), and if you get ingrown hairs.
Other than that, it can look sexy, but I don't know about feminine hygiene issues (because I'm a guy.)

Speaking from a guy's point of view definately shave it off. Waxing is better but a razor is fine. It looks and feels great and tastes even better

A trim for starters. Bare seems kind of perverted to me

I shave it all! I can not stand to have anything down there, and I think it is a bit nicer for the guy in your life, is it is nice and smooth rather than pricky and bushy like. It is also more comfy and you feel cleaner and look cleaner.
