Canada is rich in talent, but low on budget!

Canada does not have enough people living in Canada to suport a movie and TV industry even close to what the USA has.

Even a large number of the immigrants do not stay there very long and cross to the USA legaly or ilegaly.

Most of he jobs in Canada are tied to the USA and a very large number cross the border every day to woek in the USA.

I am one that really likes canada but only to visit and not to stay just as those that live there.

because Canada is void of all good actors, directors and producers. if they all come here, that leaves Canada with nobody, eh.

Most of the movies made last year were filmed in Vancouver...They all go to Hollywood, they are close enough for it. If they lived farther away, we would have better movies coming from that place....All the Australians come to the US too.

You can oull in all the talent in the world, but when you have low budget, and film akers who try to cut corners (by takng the location to Canada in the FIRST place), you ultimately end up with crap.

Take care...

depends on who you think "excellent" actors and directors are. actors that are suited to making hollywood type movies (mike myers, etc.) will move there.

i think atom egoyan is a great example of an amazing director making amazing canadian films.

good question. because they dont really have an active international movie and tv industry like in the US. look at australia, all the good actors come to the US as well.
