I am doing a science fair project: The effect of gender on reaction times. I can't find much! If I get this information, it would be AMAZING!! thanks in advance!

signals on the nerve are accomplished by the sodium potassium transport mechanism. this was discovered by ernst florey using the nerve structures of crawdads. This work was started in calif using crawdads from the Los Angeles drainige system . He then came to the univ of wash in seattle and went to work for him in the early 1960's. Dept of Zo-ology. You can google him. He was German and went thru WW2. A very intellegent and cosmopolitian fellow.

I'm not particulrly sure on how the signal is created... but I do know that the electrical wave travels through the body of a neuron and then works its way through the axon before passing through a gap called a synapse. and then on to the next cell. If you don't kow these terms then you have new things to do research on!
