you need to take pain reliever regularly. don't stop because you feel better - keep taking it as prescribed. you can alternate advil and tylenol. advil is every 6 to 8 hours and tylenol is every 4 so you can get more pain reliever in your body that way. be sure to take an anti inflamatory - such as motrim because it will relieve some swelling.
apply aloe. keep it in the fridge because the coolness will kill the burn.
apply a ton of lotion because you want this to tan not peel! peeling will itch so keep your skin VERY moisturized.
wear something without any harsh seems - yoga pants and a skimpy tank tops. lay down and just try not to move. it will hurt for a minute but once you get settled it will be better.
drink lots of water too.
it will be over fast. just 24 hours of really bad burn.
take care. SD

Anytime I get burnt in the sun, I go home and get a few cups worth of milk (not too cold as it can damage skin) and take a "milk bath". I pour a few cups in my comfortable (not hot) water and soak in the bath for about 15 mins. Then I would pour the remaining milk over my skin. let that soak in for another 10 mins or so.
Then when I get out, I would apply aloe vera (the real plant or what is placed in the bottle) all over the burn. Place Aloe again after an hour. Then a few hours later the same thing for the next few days.
If starts to blister or peal (and doesn't hurt), I would take baby oil, white sugar and mix it. Use it as a scrubber on my skin.
I would HIGHLY recommend to not tan in beds or the sun. Skin cancer risk raises along with your skin will damage that will cause a change in its moisture etc. My mom has lots of scares on her face, arms, chest and back from cancer being cut out of her skin due to tanning beds and in the sun.

A few years ago I got a REALLY bad sunburn. I put carrot essential oil on it (you can get it from health shops). It was very soothing and helped with the pain. The next morning, not only was the sunburn gone, but you couldn't even tell I had been in the sun.
Only trouble is, you end up with bright orange skin while it's on, and the oil gets all over your sheets and clothes. It also needs to be 100% pure carrot oil. It's miracle stuff and great for the skin.

The AloVera Plant is wonderful. Just snap a piece into and rub the liquid all over your burn. I keep a plant growing in a pot all the time for that reason. Hope it gets better real soon. I'm a Sr. Citizen and I am paying today for the sun burns I got in my youth.
~~ ~~~ Happy New Year to you~~~~

Some Tylonal/panadol or Ibuprofen, some wet towels & some pure aloe vera gel. Like any burn you have to keep the skin moist & cool to relieve the symptoms.
