I'm a running start student at a community college and will be planning to transfer my credits to a university in my senior year. I know that colleges look for rigorous courses, but what type of courses are considered to be challenging? I took French 1 and 2 at my high school in my freshmen and sophomore years, so what happens if I took French 101 instead of French 102 next year as a refresher course? Would they think that I'm just taking an easy class?

Unless you are planning on majoring in French or a foreign language, I doubt it will affect your chances. Usually, colleges don't even average in "fluff" courses, just science, English, math, etc. If you still feel that this will put you at a disadvantage, just address this concern in your personal statement.

Every college's transfer requirements are different. The very best advice you will get is from an adviser at your current college AND an adviser at the college(s) you want to transfer to. That's what they get paid for...to offer advice. ;)

Good luck.
