Democracy can co-exist with capitalism IF it's strictly regulated as in Northern Europe.

We do not have democracy at present in the US as our laws have been written by business interests.

Synonyms Of Capitalism

Relatively same in concept but they are not. One deals with the way in which a nation or society thrives on economic reforms and relies on a free-market in some instances where people have choice in trade.

The other deals with a nation being able to come together to create, destroy, agree and disagree for the greater good of a nation.

They are mutually exclusive and you can have one without the other. Ex. A country that believes in capitalism where traders and merchants are given authority to behave in the manner best deemed for the economy may be controlled by a sovereign which creates and draws the line for everything else...........even the capitalistic society.

A democratic society would agree that having capitalism would be beneficial but some societies feel that although they enjoy democracy they rather leave the business and government trade be ran by state officials and others in high power that they community elects (this is usually in third world country or less developed areas in the world).

Complex but hope it helps.
