I rented it, got half way through it, and I had to turn it off, it was that boring. Don't waste your money.

It's not scary and is more like "LA Confidential" - if you liked that, then rent it - it also has some good actors in it. Also be advised it also has very little to do with the TRUE Black Dahlia, Elizabeth Short.

It is not scary at all...and it is not good either. I noticed it on some critics "worst movies of 2006" lists, but I figured with those actors, it would be good. I was wrong. It's film noir, so a lot of narration, which I find boring, but that's not what made it bad. There's some bad acting, and the story is not very good. It is a true story, an unsolved murder, but they put their own solved ending to it, and it was a stupid ending.

Agreed to the above poster (s). Not good and not scary. It barely even nods toward the real victim of the crime; it is mostly a made up story of those involved in tracking the case. Scarlett Johansson is lovely, but no actress with a forties face. She just does not fit.

I bought it for $1 in China, and it wasn't even worth that much. I didn't finish it. I was really, really bored. Don't bother with it. I usuallyl like "artsy" films, but this one just really sucked. I left it behind in China cuz I knew I would never watch it again or finish it.
