betta siamese fighting fish are carnivourous meat eaters they betta food you can buy at the store you can chop a fly up yuck or try to find some other bug and chop it up or there are brine shrimp or other things like that i have a betta and it wouldnt eat normal flake food for goldfish so i had to get special food for it that was high in protein i am not sure what you mean by ornamental fish but i am including a site that was very informative for me with pictures and names of different fish that will tell you what they eat and what they need www.liveaquaria.com

I dont know much about ornamental fishes, but fighting fishes are bettas. If you want a betta, please treat it like you would do for every tropical fish. Get it at least a 2.5 gallon tank with a filter and heater, give it specially designed betta water, along with gravel and a hideout and plants to hide in. Please dont have a fish fight with 2 male bettas! Bettas eat betta pellets, betta flakes and luv as a treat freeze dried bloodworms.
