My friend, lets call her Sally, well Sally told us that our friend Steve kissed her and we all knew it was a lie. She has done the same thing many times before and I don't know what to do. Everyone is getting tired of her!

firstly tactful.
secondly be honest.
Just tell her out right that you would prefer not to spend time with her while she is continuing to make stories up and that people will like her a whole lot more if she just acts herself and doesn't embellish stories.
(long story beginning) when i was a teenager ( way back then) a girl I went to school with insisted elvis presely was writing to her ( this was early 1977 elvis died in august that year) ... nobody was blunt enough to call her on her lies BUT nobody believed her either.
I didn't want to call her a liar either so i tried another tactic... I asked her if i could buy the stamps off the letters as I would like to collect the american stamps ( i live in australia ) .. after that she NEVER mentioned Elvis again .. and then shortly after Elvis died.
sometimes people who make up stories are just really low on self esteme and so they make up these stories hoping it will help make other's like them. Perhaps you all could try praising her for other things that you know are true ... and maybe then she won't feel the need to lie.

tell her to her face that you don't appretiate her lies. If she dosen't stop with the lying then just stop talking to her. It might be hard. I've had the same problem believe me you will be glad you did at the end.

Just tell her that your friendship is not working and tell her about the problem. You may need to talk about it quickly before she does something that could cause other conflicts (ex. rumors, etc.)

u should probably tell her to stop telling those lies or fantasies that she has, because no one believes her and people r getting tired of hearing her dumb lies!
