I have done a search for "nikita", "little nikita" and "her name is nikita", but none of those seem like the correct movie. This was a fairly well known movie for it's time.

Point of No Return, American version of La Femme Nikita. Later was turned into a cable Hit show, intitled: La Femme Nikita. It ran for about 6 years. I still miss it. It was the best.

OK, don't close this yet. I know what you're talking about and it's driving me crazy trying to remember the name. I sent an email out to my 'old' friends and hope to have an answer for you (myself) soon.

She was a Russian spy (in the movie) and 'maybe' the actress was a Russian defector of that time - you may find the answer if you can remember the names of any Russian actresses that defected then.
