I am 15 years old and my sister is going to have a baby in August. Yay!! But she asked me to be the godmother and I would love to be her godmother but if, heaven forbid, something happens to her I don't know if I really want that responsibility as a teenager. Also she hasn't said if she's gonna give her a baptism and I'm not a Catholic and I don't want to promise before God that I will help raise her child Catholic. I really need more opinions on this. Long story short...I would love to be the godmother but I haven't heard any info from her about a baptism and I think I may be to young.

As a young teen i agree with you and thank that you are mature enough to know that you could not handle the responsibilty of raising
a child when you just a child your self. If i were u i would just talk to your sister and let her know how much it means to you for her to ask you this. But just explain to her that your not sure you can take on such a responibitly at ur age. I am sure that she will understand.. Good luck

Well, it's really up to you. Some families have "god parents" and it is more like an honorary title then the full on real meaning that they would take the kids if something terrible happened. My in-laws do the whole godparent thing and it's just a term, all of their kids would go to their respective grandparents.
Talk to your sister about it and see what she says. Ask her if she is naming you literally as godparent or if it's an honorary term because you are her sis and she loves you. With you being so young it wouldn't be unreasonable for her to leave in her will that her child should be raised by the grandparents. Just talk to her and tell her your concerns and I'm sure you will be able to work something out.
