Yes, I care. I don't even care that they are famous. They are human beings that deserve to be respected dead or alive. Whether they are famous or not. Whether you liked them or not. My goodness! Human life is precious and we do live only once. Plus I'm always sad for their families and friends. They go through the same thing we do when we lose a loved one. Think about that.

Okay, I'm off my soapbox. I was sad when Elvis died and Princess Dianna. There have been many actors and actresses that have passed that made me sad. Cary Grant, James Stewart, Michael Landon, Brian Keith, Audrey Hepburn. Most of the actors and actresses that have died are more from my era. Guess that's dating me, huh. Oh well.

Update:

Truly evil people will have their day in front of God and be judged then according to their deeds.

I know this sounds mean, but I really don't care if someone famous dies especially if they were old anyway. I guess if I was a huge fan of someone famous than I would be sad, but since I didn't really know them personally I would get over it fast.

I'm sure their families care. I hate to see anyone go tragically, like Aallyah or Princess Diana, but it's more because it shows how quickly things can go wrong, than losing that specific person. I think all the people you see on TV crying are living vicariously through the celebs and their drama, because they're trying to fill a void in their own life.

Well, i cant really say that i don't care when a famous person dies....i mean i won't cry or anything like that..but it's always sad when someone dies...of course unless it's someone evil like hitler or something.

I think i would be really sad if someone really important or generous died....like oprah or someone like that.

Normally no - I felt really sad though when I found out River Phoenix died - I just thought he had so much potential and it was a surprise more than anything else. It was more like a realisation for a teen about mortality.

It depends who that famous person is, if he/she affects people's lives in a very positive way, I'm sure many people would care.

not really - i dont know them, i have no emotional contact with them, i have no business in their affairs. i might be a bit saddened or disappointed if that person had some serious bearing on my life or if i could no longer enjoy their contributions.
i dont give any weight to their level of fame over the next person.
all the fame in the world doesnt make the death of one person more important than the death of the average person.

Depend on how truly-fanatic fan you are to that deceased. But I surely think not that you need to overdo your sadness over their death. Like, loose your sleep and appetite or being depress over it. Because it's a silly thing that are so unnecessary for you to put yourself into it.
