I know this is going to sound generic, but I had to call linksys to help me. They walk you thru step by step and will figure out what is wrong.

I had difficulty setting up my laptop.

I had this problem too. I have a Linksys Wireless Receiver card installed on my laptop, and at first it would not accept the access point. It would not show any signal, no matter how close I was to the router! Sound familiar?

What I did to fix the problem was check all the options provided in the program they give you on a disk. I'm assuming you installed all the programs and drivers that came along with your card?

Well, inside the program that was included you are given a bunch of options. Check that you're set to infrastructure and if you have to, set your card to assign itself to an IP address automatically.

This is where it gets a bit cloudy. I reset both my receiver and my router at this point, and when I tried again, the laptop could view the access point and I could access the internet. Woohoo!

Maybe this will work for you too? If not, you could always re-install the drivers and programs that came with your card. It never hurts to.
