mmmm .. if ur board is old and it only supported 2100 memory then there may be problems ... if the board supported 2700 or 3200 then any of it would work .... but mixing it can sometimes create an error.

You already have some answers. Most are wrong.

You can USUALLY put a faster memory into a computer than the computer is made for. The faster memory simply runs at a slower speed than it's rating. It runs at the speed that the motherboard has set up.

I said usually because some memory will not run reliably at a slower speed. Almost all will.

If you put memory that is slower than a motherboard is capable, the motherboard usually just runs it at whatever speed the memory can run. You do have control over it in the BIOS, so you can downgrade the speed if necessary.

The book says not to mix memory, but I do it all the time and it USUALLY works fine. No guarantee.

You can change 1 for the other.
You cant use both at same time.
If your mobo supports upto 266 it will not make any difference changing.

Yes. One is rated for speeds up to 266MHz (DDR) and the other can run up to 333MHz (DDR), but they're interchangeable.
