Since right before Christmas, I havn't eaten much, I don't sleep, I'm really depressed, and I've gone from likeing hip-hop music to rock. I feel like I just want to get off this planet and go somewhere by myself. I used to like guys who were into rap and were gettin all the girls, but ever since, I've gone to likeing punk/skater guys. Why is this happening? I can't think of anything in my life that's depressing me. My grades also dropped very low, and the classes I was best at I am now failing. I can't stop this, and I havn't slept in 4 days. I've gone to likeing black instead of pink, and wearing different clothes. This is weird, but I can't seem to bring myself to like the "other" me. Help. I don't know where this came from, or why it came so sudden.

Are you on drugs? or do you have alcohol problems? because if u do,that might be messing with your brain or something. you should go see a psychiatrist.

Wow, almost exactly the same thing happened to me in december 05..... i don't know what caused it....... but the depression, low grades, loss of apetite and insomnia went away in about 5 weeks or so.
Everything else kinda stuck with me, the rock music, black clothes etc.... btw I always liked black but it was never so much now that I think about it..
Don't worry about it though it should pass, it was probably just stress (especially if you're a college student).

You may just be in transition. I do not know your age but different things may be going on in your body chemistry. And NO I don't think you are on drugs. Just because you feel crummy, sleep a litttle more does not mean a person is partyin 24/7. Maybe you are just changing physical, mentally, ie: inward and outward. thats ok everyone has different paths they follow during life. GO with what feels ok to you. BEST of LUCK.

The changes you are facing are natural. They are freaking you out only because you are not used to them. There are tons of people who prefer rock and black over rap and pink, and I'm one of them.
Perhaps you have grown to a point that you can see through the stupidity of our pre-determined pop culture? Girls must like pink; hip-hop is always cool, etc... You are making your own choices about what you want to like, and that is great.
The only problem is you worrying over these changes, affecting your eating, sleeping and studying. You do not need to change back; all you need is to accept the changes you are going through. Its called maturing, and some people never go through it their entire lives... You are going through it now. Congrats!
Just embrace your own choices and lifestyle, and do not let your surrounding impose a life style on you.

PS. I'm not saying that one color or lifestyle is better than another. All I'm saying is choose for yourself and be glad that you did!

you didn't say how old you are.could be hormones kicking in.my daughter was like that between 14 and 15 but now at 16 she's turning back into her old self.you should see a doctor and have a chat about all this.you really need an unbiased person to talk to.

the music and clothes thing isnt really anything to be worried about. a persons style can change alot.

however, the sleeping and failing classes part isnt good so kick your butt into high gear and pass those classes! and see a doctor for your sleep problems.

hope you get better. it sounds like your having a hard time finding yourself. take care!

I have suffered from depression issues and to me this sounds like a growing experience you are going through. however if this does continue you should consider professional help. This could be stress related and you may never figure out the stress that is causing it. One way to help try to figure out if it is stress is to keep a journal of daily doings, things that you do different and how they make you feel. Also if you do them with your friends and how your friends felt and how you felt about your friends feelings, sometimes we stress over our friends feelings and we don't realize it or we stress over what our friends are thinking of us and we don't know how to stop or to admit to them that we are really worried about how they feel that it is important.

that is pretty scary to go from one extreme to another so quickly. something must really be eating at you. if depression lasts for more than two weeks than id go see a doctor. it could be that you need counseling and/or medication. but nip it in the but before it gets out of hand.
