Well, you don't need to be scared. I was too, though. Actually, when I got my period, I didn't tell my mother because I was embarrassed. Big mistake! Because when she finally saw the stained underwear a few years later she was very upset. So be open about it, it is normal, healthy, and you are becoming a young woman. Besides, you will also need feminine products. You will grow darker hair in your privates, armpits, and legs. You may want to shave your legs to avoid teasing from other kids, be careful and have adult assistance the first time. Your body will begin to change into a womanly shape, curves. You will need a bra as well. It is best to have an adult female figure, mother, older sister for help with these things. Relax and remember it is nothing to be ashamed of. You are becoming a young woman.

This is no big deal. First your mum will always be there to offer support. Sure there are periods and body changes. You will get through it.Be open with your mum like you are with us. She went through puberty too.Have you got friends you can talk to or an older sister?Email me if you dont have anyone. I have a 12 year old daughter. My prayers are with you.

HI SMARTCOOK,
please do not be scared. what you are going thru is a perfectly normal thing....really very normal.. why don't you talk with your mother or go to a school counselor for advice. the 1st things that will happen are you will grow hair under your armpits and you will notice that you will also grow hair on your pubic area on and around your vagina...it's normal, we all have to go thru it. and your hips may widen a little bit==meaning you will be getting a womanly figure. honey, don't you worry yourself about all this business.....we all have had to go thru it. and the final thing you may notice is you'll bleed from your vagina....so you will need to go to the store and pick up some sanitary napkins for when that does happen. just relax and go with the flow....like i said, it is perfectly normal.....and do not be afraid.. just relax, and know that all of us women have had to go thru this...........
God bless and keep you safe. and a very happy new year to you!!! and 1 other thing is when you do start your period, you could possibly get pregnant. so keep your legs together

It's no big deal. Really the only difference is that you'll have your period, grow hair in certain places, and have mood swings...you'll adapt easily.

First, talk with your mother, older sister, aunt, cousin, any older female relative. We're all been there and we can all help.
