Libs and cons again.
Lets See: Cons say they are conservative and defenders of the constituion but today they are for the largest most expensive military in the world and what did the framers of Constitution say about a large standing military in regards to threats against freedom.
Libs say they are for personal freedoms yet it is a lib who is calling for a draft and Mandatory Volunteerism for all americans for at least two years of servitude.
Dianne Feinstein a supposed lib yet her husband has a $300, 000,000, open ended contract in Iraq and Patty Murry, DEM, and truly a liberal from WA. State is the most strident advocate for Veterans rights while the cons are cutting benefits.
Both are crooked as all get out but then being crooked is part of holding office.
Some who have been in military and have seen what allowances the military gives to those in warfare and the abuse the system can have to an individual may well know the fear of any civil society towards being controlled by a military mindset in all their daily activitys.
The military is an heirarchy structure, with clear deliniations between officers and ranks for one, truly an undemocratic governance.
Remember the founders gave Civilians control of military for they had seen and read of the abuses governemtn put those in uniform against their own peoples were capable of.

where on earth do you get your facts?
And what does whether or not someone is planning on joining have to do with anything?
There are something like 300 million people in this country, probably about half could serve in the military, and only about 1% of that population actually joins, so what's your point!

Well, first off you're completely wrong.
I'm personally a hardcore liberal, and a veteran.
Also, the party breakdown of the military is much like the country in general: just about 50% for both republicans and democrats. You should stop listening to Limbaugh's rantings, and learn some real facts.

Right now the "left" has so much to say about the military because the "right" has been sending our brave soldiers off to die for no good reason other than corporate profits for Halliburton. As patriotic Americans, we want to end the right's abuse of our great fighting men and women, and bring them home safe and alive.

The United States Armed Forces

are not the president's personal gang of mercenaries. Nor did anyone currently a member of it ever intend it to be when they joined.

I spent six years in the Marines and unfortunately voted for Bush in 2000. The left is increasing because anyone with a brain has gotten tired of being lied to. I lost two friends in Iraq! One of which landed in country to hear the speech from his Commanding officer " We are not here for terror or freeing Iraq! We are here for Oil, so don't get yourself killed". Plenty of people on the left came from the military and the right. Not to say that I would never be open minded to voting republican again, but it would take a great candidate and a lot of straight talk. I am tired of the propaganda!

I am a gulf war vet . I was in the army infantry. I have done my time and I am on the left as well. I am totally against the war in Iraq and I have had 5 personal friends get killed over there. So please don't generalize, many soldiers are on the "left" as well. Soldiers are like the rest of america, they all have different views but we do what we are told.

Why does the "Right" seem to have nothing responsible to say about the military?

And yet, they are the ones in the war???

I support our troops in harms way.they are not the enemy. The true enemy hides behind them.the bold enemy confronts them. You and I will definitely die between them.our education is the basic of difference in cause. Those in power on each side of each level will not surrender. The MONEY PEOPLE do not have to go to their deaths to protect their power.we do.I worked for the Air Force.I know what money can do.I also know what it will avoid at all expense.EQUALITY.

Liberals do not like the military for a number of reasons:

-- they believe in something enough to fight for it.
-- they treat everyone the same instead of making allowances for race, ethnicity, gender, etc.
-- they still don't allow admitted homosexuals to be part of the military.
-- they expect people to live by rules, codes, standards, and expectations, and they punish people when they don't.
-- they're armed.
-- they're patriotic.
-- they have very little room to be fashionably creative.

The "left" doesn't like the idea that we are getting our own people killed in a war that never had a real reason to be started. The "left" doesn't like senseless killing.
