Get GOOD grades and if you want to go to a 4 year university then get involved with your community. Help out at your local library and get community service hours. Join clubs at your school if any of them interest you.

First of, GRADES!!! I wish someone would have emphasized this to me my freshmen year!!! GRADES, GRADES, GRADES!!! Turn in EVERYTHING and EVERYTHING I say!! Turn in worksheets that didn't even count as a grade because they could turn into extra credit for you. Also, organization is another huge good thing you can do. Keep everything, even peices of paper you jotted little notes on because you might need it one day. Maybe not your freshmen year, but you will need it. Also join a club or extra curricullar activity because if you plan to go to College, they'll love it!! But the two most helpful thing I can say to you is BALANCE but HAVE FUN!!! These four years are going to fly and you're going to miss them!! I'm a sophomore, and I already miss being a freshman! But yup, have super fun okay!!!

I found that by being involved, gained me acceptance. When I joined clubs (yearbook, science, pep, powderpuff football) and took part in the hall decorating/ float committee, my social circle seemed to widen. On the weekends, I roller skated and went to a few football games. I also carried a folder with all my homework...done on one side and not done on the other, I always did each assignment on time and studied for tests......yes, good grades also helped with my social status.

It might not be one of the most important things for you,but,getting good grades is very important too..
