i have sat with my legs crossed at the knee probably starting when i was around seven now i am fourty. i cross them every time i sit down, and always with the same leg right over left. eventually after a long period of crossing, my top leg gets numb. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, back problems, and hip problems, i dont have any at all, but is this true that it is bad? do you cross your legs also? and are you aware it might be bad?

There are problems presented by certain people. By crossing your legs, you misalign your body, including your spine (twisting it) which can cause back problems. If you do not experience this though, then do not worry. This is just an explanation for existing back pain. However, crossing your legs can interupt blood flow to your lower extremities if you are sitting for lengthy periods of time, increasing the chance that you will develop a blood clot in your legs. It's easy to remedy this problem however, by making sure that you get up and walk around after every 1-2 hours or so. While crossing your legs CAN cause problems, it is not a guarantee by any means. If you have no had problems, I doubt that you will suddenly develop them.

Im the same way. I always sit with my legs crossed. Even in the car(the passenger seat). So far I havent had any probs. If they start to hurt or cramp up after awhile I just stretch them out. Hope this helps a little anyway.
