harming the baby. I feel like it compresses him together and he is not getting any oxygen. I'm able to keep my Ensure drinks down so I know he is getting the nutrients that he needs, but is my throwing up effecting him? It seems like it would since my stomach is contracting together and seemingly putting pressure on him.

I was far along in my pregnancy too, when I caught the stomach flu. I threw up constantly and couldn't eat for three days. Nevertheless, my son came out healthy as a horse. I wouldn't worry too much about it, but you might want to let your doctor know so he/she can write it down in there records.

It could be affecting him, but as long as the kicks are still felt the proper amount of times per day, then I think you'll be safe. At this point the baby and all the plumming is used to a cramped space espeacially when those braxton hicks act up. I am terribly sorry to hear you have a bug, I just got over having bad christmas ham, horrible expiriance. Since you are having the intense stress on your body, I would watch for real labor, sometimes this kind of sickness can trigger it. You know your body, so listen to it, if you feel different, call the doc immediatly.

Your baby is surrounded by lots of amniotic fluid, which acts as a perfect cushion and buffer for pressure from the outside world. Granted, a fall forward on your belly or being hit in the belly (say in a car accident) would be dangerous, but I highly doubt that the strain and contraction of your abdominal muscles while vomitting would harm your baby.
Ensure is ok, but please PLEASE be sure to drink at least 64 oz. of water a day, as well as orange juice if you can. Dehydration (common when you have a stomech virus) can most definately harm both you AND your baby. It can also cause excess uterine contractions and possibly put you into labor prematurely.

Don't worry, humans have been having kids for 10's of thousands of years. Your flu will be over in 10 days max. Your stomach is under your rib cage. Your baby is much lower inside you, and will get plenty of nutrients from you and plenty of oxygen from you.

Get rest, and let your hubby do all the work until you're better.

I vomited strenuosly throughout all of my last pregnancy up until the last day & there was never a prob. I gave birth to a large, healthy baby. Go & get checked if you feel a change in your fetal movements when things have settled down.

The vomiting will not hurt him anymore than active labor and birth. As for the nutrients have you told your ob/gyn? they may need to give you IV fluids.... Good luck, I have heard that the stomach bugs are pretty bad this year...

Your baby is also getting it's oxygen from the umbilical cord and at this stage in your pregnancy the baby is almost totally self sufficient. I wouldn't worry about anything at all.

No, your stomach is contracting, not your uterus when vomitting. Anyway, your uterus has been contracting off and on for months now, the baby can handle it. Labor contractions are very strong, and the baby handles those as well.

hi-everything should be just fine with the vomiting.
Im due in 17 days and I still have morning sickness in the morning and at night.
my baby is just fine
as long as you're feeling baby move inside--everything should be ok.
if you dont feel baby move at all in 24 hours though-you need to call the doctor.
