Suppose a cart is being moved by a certain net force. If a load is dumped into the cart so its mass is doubled, by how much does the acceleration change?

F = MA

F = force
M = mass
A = acceleration

so...

A = F/M

If the mass doubles, the acceleration is cut in half. They have an inverse relationship.

It reduces to half. The equation is Force = Mass X Acceleration.

F = M1*a1 = M2*a2.

Given that M2 = 2M1.
M1*a1 = ( 2 M1) *a2

a1 = 2*a2

a2 = half the initial acceleration.
